Tripod mounts?

Is there a standard thread size on a camera for the tripod mounting? if there is what is it?? it looks like 6mm or 1/4" but what thread pitch?

They are 1/4" Witworth (BSW) larger ones are either 5/16" or 3/8" cant remember but still BSW.
