the thread is snagging on the bottom, shuttle area, shuttle position plate does not seem to have enough adjustment

Hello Geof,
First make sure the tensions are set perfectly, there should be enough clearance between the bobbin case and the silver guard on the right so the thread can pass through, pretty unusual if the screws come loose, failing that you may need to retime the machine
