Hotpoint Aquarius wf541 stuck on was cycle ?

My Hotpoint Aquarius wf541 washing machine keeps sticking on the wash cycle, in order to drain I have to knock it on one and then it compleats the other cycles fine..........
What could be the problem..? Liz

It's most definitely the element, to check this boil a kettle a couple of times and tip into the machine door; wash your clothes at the correct selected temperature, if the cycle completes your element needs replacing which costs £28 for the part.

check that your heater element is not gone o/c (open circuit) as this can cause programme to stop/pause. if o/c a replacement element is required.

the timer in your hotpoint washing machine has gone dry, and sticking at that point. get a can of silicone greese spray and spray in to the timer and as you are spraying the silicone greese turn the handle so the silicone grease penetrates into the mechanism. don't forget to unplug the machine from the mains.once you sprayed the silicone greese spray do not use the machine for at least half an hour.
