how to wire electrical doorbell?

I want to know if I can break into and take a spur off any lighting wiring near the hall to power a front doorbell?

yes thats going to look good sd,a transformer lying about pluged into a wall socket, and with a too high rated fuse in plug top.or did you not know door bells run off either batteries,or,a transformer ?

stick a plug on it, then plug into mains socket. a lot safer than messing on, Fit low value fuse, probably 3A

why not just fit a radio door bell?its easy, but so is a power doorbell, just a bit more work, and it depends how your lights have been wired, loop in loop out to the ceiling roses or the light switches, you dont say where your consumer unit is,(fuse box)the radio bell just uses batteries in each unit, and you can take main unit to garden so you can still hear door bell
