How do I open a window that is locked in the slightly open position?

Hi there,
I have moved into a house where 2 of the upvc windows are locked in the open position. I have tried to unlock them with the key and the button pops out, but the handle won't move. Any ideas on how to get it open please? I have tried wd40.

if you cant open the sash you will need to remove the glass and pop the window open with a crow bar. only do this once the glass is removed because the sash is slightly flexible. look on youtube for how to remove the glass

this sounds like the mechanism is broken. remove the handle by undoing the 2 screws. then remove the mechanism by removing the screws from around the window sash. (it is a lot easier doing this from the outside). have a good look at the mechanism. thes are not very complicated so it should be easy to ficure out how it works. try wd40 to loosen it up. if it is broken then take it to a upvc window and door merchant and they will order you a new part. it shouldnt be too expensive but use that as a last resort
