How can i fix it Polti VTT 2400 ?

My polti 2400 heats up into red but will not release steam when pressing trigger

I can't get the cap off my polti 2400 vaporeta. It seems to be stuck on. how can I get this off to replace the cap. I know I can buy one for about £20.
