all stairlifts have a safety gear and where yours has hit a cupboard at the bottom ,the gear has dropped in and turned a inline supply off in carriage...[which this should do in this situation]theres a different procedure to different model stairlifts being ac or dc..
your stairlift should have been supplied with a winding handle and this needs to be located into the carriage housing[a hole which should say winding handle/sticker]top or bottom of main carriage depending if your sl is l/h or r/h model....once you have located handle into the hole you need to wind the stairlift up to reset safety gear..if you can let me know which model stairlift ,i can be more precise
on reseting safetygear...........ian..portsmouth
