phone calls?

1. Do Microsoft windows ever call users using an Asian calling centre?
2. Do Microsoft windows KNOW you have corrupt files
3. Does Microsoft Windows add an auto respond to microsoft windows if it senses a corrupt file.?

2 & 3 were claimed by the caller after I asked how that he knew or suspected I have corrupt files?
I believe it's a method of criminals accessing and controlling/monitoring personal details for ID and mone (bsnk account) thefts. Am I correct?

I should add I cut him off but he rang back which makes me think its another way of convincing you it is for real and really is Microsoft calling hoping you continue.
many thanks in anticipation.

1 - Microsoft will absolutely NEVER EVER call you. They don't have your phone number.

2 - Microsoft have absolutely no way of knowing that you have any corrupted file. Also, they don't care about eventual corrupted files. A corrupted system file will be auto-corrected in most cases on your next boot. If not, a simple system restore to a previous state will do the trick.

3 - There is no such thing as an "Auto respond" report.

It's definetely a FRAUD attempt using publicly available phone numbers (online phone books), and attampting to dupe unsuspecting peoples.

You could get such a call about pretend Windows file corruption if you have a Mac, a Linux box, or even if you actualy don't have any computer...
