Every so often I get emails

windows live x wants to be your friend are these phishing scams? currently I just delete them.

Unrequested? From strangers? From addresses you don't recognise?

Nothing to wory about, and nothing important. Just do with them what you do with any SPAM e-mail: Flag the messages as junk mail and carry on.
Just make sure you effectively did NOT suscribe to any "Club", meet site or similar.

Yes and no, But I always just delete them, usually someone wanting to sell you something, or in the case you mention, to join a 'Meet people club' singles club etc whatever you want to call them, some with high join fees, or some way to get money out of you..

So just carry on deleting.
