Ariston A1635 washing machine doesn`t move through wash cycle?

I can set the above machine on the wash cycle (eg.No.5 on the selector dial).The machine starts to wash,but doesn`t move around from position 5,to carry on through it`s cycle.What could cause this fault

Apologies,for not having replied before.Thanks to the person who suggested checking the heater.Removed said item,did a continuity test and suspected faulty.Fitted a replacement heater element and now the machine works fine.So,thanks very much for advice and guidance.

Could be an open circuit heater (burnt out heater) or main mpdule failure. We stock the main module at £53.88 ready programmed but check your heater first.
