The dishwasher fills with water, empties fills again then empties again. then shuts off there is an audible alarm every 4 seconds and the end of cycle light flashes once every 7 seconds. I cheated the door switch so as to see what happens. the water covered the bottom before draining

I have tried pouring extra water in, this makes no difference. The waste outlet pipe is clear and so is the inlet pipe.
