oil fired heating?

My daughters heating stopped working. It is a Firebird 70 boiler & riello rdb burner (located outside). When it is switched on nothing happens. I had a look at it & found the boiler thermostat (danfoss ITD100) connections were corroded. I cleaned them all and put my tester across the terminals of the thermostat & got no reading, ie no connectivity, could this be the problem? Can I prove this by bypassing the stat to see if it will start up?
Thanks
