sony vaio vgn-nr11z notebook?

The DC power socket was broke on this laptop,so i got one on ebay,(about 7 pounds sterling) if you know this machine, you know you have to take it to pieces to get at the old DC socket, anyway i stuck the new one in and rebuilt the machine, when i tried to plug it in i found to my horror, the new one was broke aswell.
What i would like to know is....is there any other type of plug that can be used instead of the original type?
the original part no is 073-0001-3775_A If you look this up on ebay you will find about 4 sites selling this little bit of wire for 120 pounds, this i can't take onboard, Many thanks for any help on this. Barry.
