Hard disc cannot be initialised on Hitachi HDR253?

After changing TV because of a TV fault found the Digital Recorder sent a message onto new TV screen 'Hard Disc not initialised'.
Cannot access library & timings but can set up rest of instructions in Menu

To initialise the Hitachi HDR253 hard disk drive
MENU >> Setup >> Recordings >> Format disk (the default PIN is 0000)

When you format the disk you will lose all your recordings. However, this has already occured and is probably due to a disk index corruption rather than a fault with the hardware.

The Hitach HDR253 is a T825 model made by a company called vestel. For additional trouble shooting also see the digihome forum at digital spy
