How can I fix my Hotpoint Aquarius WF541 washing machine?

Whatever cycle I select it fills a little then tries to spin rather than wash, then it stops and repeats the same thing over and over.

Found that the taco wires to the junction box on the motor had work hardened and broken, so once I had opened the junction box it was a simple fix. Thanks for all your help.

Thanks for your replies.
Tony I have ordered the part you suggested from EMW Electronics.

Classic main module fault (back of machine in white plastic box). We stock it at £59.88 + £6 post (exchange). This is ready programmed to go straight in to your machine. Of course, you always have the option of returning the unit within 14 days for a refund, less our handling charge of £12. To order, go to our site at www.emwelec.co.uk and put WF541 in the search box or call us on 0115 9652118. Tony EMW Electronics

Could be the water level sensor, inside you will find a small dia. Pipe going from probably drain pipe to a sensor at the top, make sure that pipe is clear, also check your drain filter is clear

Sarah,
Had a similar problem with the same machine. You may have already tried this, but switch off or unplug all power to the washer and leave it unplugged for a few minutes.
Despite the fact that there is no logical reason why this should work, it did for mine. Although it may have been something to do with all the sliding in and out to get to the plug that sorted it rather than cutting the power !!
