it won't move?

i have just got my new 5 year old scooter, everything works on it but it will not move! the only thing that i can see it that the leaver that lets you take it out of gear will not let you.dont tell me to take it to a shop or charge the battery, please help if you can

New? 5yrs old? and say everything works on it yet you then say it wont move. If its a mobility scooter as I susspect then look for a master switch that isolates the battery which saves disconnection when working on it.

The other point is everything works on my car but it wont go.....so everything is not working is it. get my meaning!
also make and model would help.
