Daniel Dakota Westminster Chime manle clock?

I wonder if the clock is faulty as I need to replace the batteries roughly every 4 weeks. There is one battery slot
near the mechanism and 2 slots further down. I cant remember if the single slot has to have a battery to sound the chimes or if the double slot sounds the chimes. I dont want the chimes on, so do I need to use a single battery or put 2 batteries in the double slot?

Put in one battery and see what happens

Or put in two batteries and make an observation.

Or - put in three batteries and check that it all works correctly and then remove one or two batteries as the fancy takes you.

Then you'll know.

As for battery life - has it always been like this? Are you confident about the quality of the batteries?

Good luck...
