The red light is no longer showing and the unit appears to have no life in it at all. I have checked the fuse and power socket which are both OK

Then the internal power supply has most probably died.

You have a choice to make.

I threw one of these away last week because we so seldom use it relying on our existing sky+ box to save TV programmes - but I had to buy a Blu-Ray/CD player.
