Pilot light gone out?

How can I re-light the pilot light on a Chaffoteaux et Maury boiler? There are two white knobs on the front of the boiler and when I turn the top one there is a spark, Do I have to keep the knob in one position until it "catches" ? Does it turn from left to right for ignition? Or vise-versa?
