how do i fix start up repair offline problem?

About a week ago my laptop computer crashed and now wont start. Im using wind 7 and norton protection. When I turn it on it automatically goes to my startuprepair. it says it cannot repair computer automaticaslly and the problem signature is startuprepair offline. Another one of the signatures says autofailover - ox6b- and some other info.In the root cause found, it says "startup repair tried several times but cant determine the cause of the problem". I did nothing to the comp before it went blank on me and lost its connection. I have a card key and I cant get that to turn on to get on line. can anyone give advise. Im using windows 7 but lost my cd during a move so i cant use that as a back up. HELP I can get to the commant prompt page which says Administratior X: windows system 32 cmd.exe on the top
the windows version 6.1.7601 the next line and finally last time says X:\windows\system32> and waiting for me to type something in. ANY HELP WITH THIS, PLEASE? i KNOW NOTHING OF VALUE FOR THIS

Try to go back to some restore point. Start with a recent one, if it don't work, try the previous one untill you try the oldest one.
If any restore point work, congratulation, you're done. Stop there.

If the previous don't work.
Using another computer, download some Windows 7 DVD image from some torrent site. Burn that image to a DVD-R using your favorite burning application.
Doing that to replace a lost genuine installation DVD is legaly acceptable if not totaly "legal". If you find one branded to your actual computer brand, all the beter.
When asked what kind of install to perform, chose "Update".
This option will preserve all your files, installed applications and settings.
Next, let Windows updates do it's job reapplying all needed updates.
If you don't get the update option, all of your actual installation will be found in a folder named "Windows.old".
