Picture has become vertically stretched?

This has happened before and I had to take it to shop. Is there a way to avoid spending more money.
Basicaly the picture has become tall with any titles now off the screen-top and bottom.

if its a newer tv less than 5-6 years old the answer is no. the vertical hight adjustment in newer tv's is done through a special service menu, the code to access it only give to service centers.
