I have a Infocas LP 280 projector with about 800 hours on it and it will turn its self off after 30 min or so. I heard something about a primary power supply unit getting packed up. I am not afraid of digging into it myself, just need some tips. Any help would be appreciated

My InFocus has been working fine, until now in the middle of a movie. It is an overheating issue. To g t me through the movie I placed a small box fan at the side of the projector to assist with removing the heat. Will try working on it later and will keep you all informed

My LP280 lamp shuts down after ~30 min. I upgraded the firmware in 2008...no fix. I've cleaned the filters and checked all fans...no fix. So now, I place two freezer packs just below the projector and let the fans suck in the cold air. Now I get a full hour of continious light. Try it! Maybe you'll do even better.

The problem with mine was a corroded power connector from the main digital board to the AC/DC Power supply. I posted a video on YouTube of how to fix it -- just search on YouTube for "InFocus Projector Power Issue", and you should find it.

mine is brand new, ive had it like two or three weeks, it worked fine at first, and then now its getting to be pretty regular to where it shuts its display off after 10-15 minutes, not the audio though. then after awhile it'll come back on, soooo wtf? this thing is brand new, theres plenty of room for it to breathe, its mounted upside down on my ceiling, what is the issue and more importantly how do i fix it?

Hi\r\nI have a -2009 X10 Infocus projector that overheats after about 30 minutes. Lamp hours 700
I opened the lamp compartment and found a dirty metal filter next to the lamp.
But how do i open up the whole casing to clean the rest?
Anyone know?

Anyone have any idea why my Infocus IN72 won't power up at all -- I might have powered it off by unplugging rather than turning it off at the source. But I wouldn't think that would prevent it from powering back on. Any ideas are most welcome!

I have the same problem, just talked to an infocus tech support rep, Brandon. He was extremely helpful, I explained what was going on, told him my first bulb went for 3000hrs, color started to fade, then I bought a replacement bulb.

Here is where this problem started for me, after about 500hrs on that bulb. Apparently, 3rd party bulbs are not made to spec, and I kind of figured this because my projector did run hotter. I thought the fans went out it was getting so hot sometimes, but they were indeed working, and working overtime. Then my power started to fuzz out like described above.

Basically what can happen is the ballast on the power supply can be damaged from all of this heat and extra voltage required by this new 3rd party bulb.

Now I have an option, get a genuine bulb, about $100 more, or just say forget it and get a whole new projector cuz I probably injured this one. And the repair on this power supply is already around $300. That with a new $400 bulb, I'm considering this a lesson learned when replacing bulbs, and I'm just going to buy a brand new projector.

I hope this info helps people, never again will i try to cut corners to save $100 when replacing a projector bulb.

My LP280 turns off regularly after 30 mins. InFocus has stopped supporting LP280's (nice) but tells me that it is NOT a lamp problem (the lamp either works, or doesn't -- it it works for 30 mins, it's not a lamp problem). InFocus refers me to www.projectordoctor.com, but they have no tech support over the phone; all you can do is ship your projector to them, pay their assessment fees, and hope (nice, again). Vacuuming the filters doesn't help in my case: the filters are on the front of the projector; the overheating is in the back, on the bottom of the unit, under the lamp door. Getting to those filters involves opening up the casing, which requires a special type screwdriver (nice, again.)

I have an InFocus Model LP280 as well that shuts down within a matter of minutes. My best guess is that it has bad capacitors. I am going to take it apart and find a solution for you all ;).

Many Infocus projectors do this because of the shoddy failing PSU or high voltage units. They won't sell you parts and it's a nice racket making tons of money from faulty parts replacements. Just seach teh web fo InFocus shuts off and see for yourself

I have the same problem. I have been researching it and I have seen people with the same problem turning the projector over (if its cieling mounted turn it right side up) some have changed the lamp and it worked others have just cleaned the air filter. But others have done all of this and never got it working Im thinking its capacitors in the power supply. I havent opened the unit yet.

I get similar problem with an infocus 335, it powers down after about 30 secs.. I've borrowed a second lamp and that one works fine.. I don't understand why tho !

Sounds like it may be overheating, have you cleaned the air filter. If the unit gets too hot, the projector will shut its self down
