Oven stuck in [phantom] "Probe" setting/Oven won't function?

My Kitchenaid gas oven/stove combo is a model KG????-something? according to the manual, and I am having a similar problem w/ the "phantom" probe stopping me from being able to use my oven... According to the suggestions/answers I found from a similar forum, I've tried setting the [phantom] probe to 160 degrees and then setting the oven to bake at 400 degrees, etc - HOWEVER, the kicker is, when the "Start?" prompt scrolls on, and I hit the "Start" button, it doesn't... Instead, it changes the temp to down to 06 degrees, then 36 degrees when I try to hit the start button again, etc, etc...
BOTTOM LINE: I'm still stuck & cannot get the oven to start/turn on/heat up/work at all - it never actually turns on in order for it to heat up & dry-out the probe sensor; it just continues to keep me going in circles asking to set the probe temp &/or to remove probe (which we have never ever had, or used, and in fact does not exist...) HELP PLEASE?! Thoughts? Thanks very much!
