Found this because I was having problems with my own diplomat. Found reset info for my model (ADP 8242) on a different site and might be worth a try. I guess that the on-board technology doesn't necessarily differ that much between machines.
"Turn off at the power button and leave for 10 seconds.
Turn on power button and press the program button 4 times
I found that you had to be very quick pressing the program button four times after powering up. You know you've hit it right when then two outer lights stay lit.
(IN my case the left light stayed on steady and the right hand light flashed - G)
Then push the program button once.
Then power off (without closing the door).
Wait 15 seconds then power up and the reset should have taken place"
I then closed the door and allowed it to do whatever it wanted, which in my case was a bit of the wash cycle. After it had ceased I selected a program and it worked normally.
