Cut the plug and 6 inches of cable off and throw it away - fit a new plug - this is quick cheap and easy and may well fix your problem - if it doesn't then you've not wasted much time or money.
Very often a conductor stretches and breaks inside the cable - from constant tugging.
But as a check - remove the fuse and test it in some other equipment - just to be sure it's not immediately blowing fuses one after another.
