My tv goes off for no reason, I swich socket of and on and it comes on for a few mlnuits, then off again.

Had the same problem and then it went completely. I bought a new power board from Ebay and when I plug in all I get is a sizzling sound. Tried lots of websites but none has come up with an answer. Being an Older person I' loath to buy another T.V. until I've tried all avenues.
