The TV can display signals from various sources - it doesn't know what you wish to watch - you need to tell it as you're discovering.
On my remote control there's a button called source - when I press it a list of the various inputs appears on the screen - I can scroll up and down and select what I want.
Your TV may not be exactly the same - but it will be similar
