chrome transfer passwords?

tried to transfer my passwords to other pc -did sync etcr
bookmarks transferred -but no passwords
also on new pc -chrome asks me -to save passwords ( i have boxes ticked in the settings) -
i say 'yes' -nothing saved in passwords????????????

both google same version
keeps asking to remember -i say yes ---nothing
got bookmarks and pre fill name etc
no passwords?????????

Thanks Rich -not sure -how to find out?
but the bookmarks and autofil are there in settings-
passwords are all there in 'my google' account
but can't get them in settings
also -asks me to save passwords -but can't see them in settings
very frustrating

Are both installs of Chrome the same version? Long shot, but if one version was very old it may not work.
