Cannot offer suggested cure but it sounds like what happened to mine earlier this year. There was a high pitched whine, then the handle began to get hot and slippery. The retailer keeps burbling on about the warranty period despite being asked to address the statutory right of replacement under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Now considering legal action on the small claims track - £35 issue; £25 hearing fee and defendant cannot recover costs.
