Fading display on Toshiba cf2771a?

I have a Toshiba CF2771a TV which has worked flawlessly for the past 13 years. Recently, shortly after being switched on, the display started fading out/in while sound was unaffected. Any thoughts on the source of the problem and the cost associated with the repair? Thanks.

I would be wary about soldering in the backs of TVs. There are some very high voltages there even when the TV is turned off. Cobweb maybe right about the solution but I would not recommend trying if you do not know what you are doing.

Somethings are better off left to a professional!

If the picture fades out slowly rather than disappearing in an instant, it's probably just dry joints to the cathode ray tube heaters and can be repaired by resoldering the connections.
There will be soldered connections at the tube base socket and at its supply from the main circuit board.
