I have a Singer Model #4562. It will not fill the bobbin. What can I do?

The bobbin winder does not work to fill the bobbin with thread. The bobbin does not spin when the machine is engaged. I did push in the indent on hand wheel disc and followed the instructions listed in manual, but the bobbin will not fill.Thanks.

I would love to thank PJ for solving my problem. I do have the manual and it isn't helpful at all. It just tells you how to wind the bobbin not how to fix your machine when it doesn't work properly. Thanks again and God Bless

Mine is doing the same thing & will not move at all. In fact it begins to smell if I continue depressing the foot pedal. I tried removing the cover (the left side-closest to needle) is not coming off) and was able to slide my fingers under to try to turn the little part with the rubber 0-ring but it will not turn (seized bobbin?). Help please!

Be sure to unplug your machine first. I do not have a manual and could not find one on line for my model. Why does Singer not supply replacement owner manual for this machine? This is what we tried. Remove top plastic housing that contains bobbin winder. Remove C Clip from top of bobbin winder just underneath white plastic housing. Pull down on bobbin housing to release pressure and simply lubricate shaft letting oil run down inside of bobbin winder housing. Make sure you do not get oil on the rubber o ring that rides against the drive mechanisim. Reassemble and go. Mine was ceased and while looking for answers my husband did the above and got me back in business.

Beth,

My machine does the same thing. Were you able to fix it? If so how?

Jen, September 2007
When you push the bobbin winder to wind, doe it move at all or do you have a self wind bobbin in the machine ?

Ken Dourof, March 2007
You may have a seized bobbin winder spindle, or the rubber on the bobbin winder may be a bit worn or dirty, you would wise to take the backi off the machine and see but first try and turn the bobbin winder by hand to see if it moves freely.
