Goodmans GDVD300R Repair?

Can anyone get me a copy of the electronics technical manual for this machine. (Does one even exist outside of the GOODMANS factory ? )

The Goodmans UK site does not even recognise that the model exists any more.

I am interested mainly in checking the power supply board.

I had a problem that whole system took long time to 'boot' and was erratic culminating today in that Disk would not eject. Disk drive was 'bumping' as optical head repeatedly tried to operate. Removed drive (remove 4 screws then lift from back-end causes front cover of tray to click off) and tested in PC ok. Then inspected PSU. Voltage was +16v instead of +12v, and +3.5v instead of +5v. -12v line ok. Found two 2000uF capacitors slightly swollen (as Nick) and discoloured. Swapped with two from old PC PSU. Now have a working DVD Recorder! Thanks Nick.

power supply-I changed 3 capacitors which were near the heat sink next to the output connector, they had raised tops (bump/swelled tops) must have been heat damaged ? This *sprang* recorder back to life! but mine will not see any discs in drive.

Goodmans is in fact only a brand nowdays. It is currently owned by Alba (www.albaplc.co.uk) but the previous brand owner was Comet (www.comet.co.uk). So your box may have been produced then which would explain why Alba don't recognise it.
