i would be most grateful of any advise or better still information where i may obtain a copy of the manual. I have tried the philips website without sucess

I hope I've got the right DVD as I've just accessed the Philips website www.philips.com and have saved the manual to my computer [Note there are only two models of R75 number R75/001 and R75/051 it covers both DVD's ].
Your unsuccessfull access may be you were not looking in the right place. My access to be honest was via the contact us thinking it may just give a phone number but lo-and-behold it gave me the manual.

This is how I got in to the site and saved the manual.

www.philips.com and enter their site

On their home page title bar select
>Contact Philips<
then select under Consumer products >Home audio/video<

Enter your model number in the box above the lists,
press return or click on the right button beside the box, I assumed yours was DVDR75/001, the next page shows your product in the box far left select
>Documentation < from the list below the picture then on the next page that shows select
>US English< in the first multi langauge box.
up will come the manual front page scroll with the mouse button or right arrow/slide to view it to check this is the manual you want.
To save it to your computer.
On the status line to left is a picy of a floppy disk click to save it to your computer, name it then save it.

You can't copy any of the page but you can print them.
Select the pages either individually or collectively by using the
( , ) seperator eg; to print pages 1 3 and 6 enter 1,3,6 and so on to print it all will take more than 71 pages. Don't print a string of intermitent page numbers until you have tried it with two pages to see if your printer accepts , command seperators. eg 1,6 print them first then print out all others you want with the , seperating each number. Good luck. Any problem with the Philips page e-mail me with what you want to know and I will see if e-mailing back the manual in pdf form will work your end when you try opening the file.
