Doubt it! however why are there no bulbs in these sockets? does this room suffer from damp conditions? did you attempt to put a lightbulb into the socket and have pulled the cable, could someone else hav pulled on the cables. My advice to you is to swtich of the supply at the consumer unit and check the wiring in the sockets make sure all wires are where they are supposed to be. I had a situation some time back i called at a customers house with almost the same problem as yours. I found that once i had unscrewed the cap ontop of the light socket where your bulb goes in a wire had pulled out and was touching against the neutral. The customer stated that this was most odd. However on closer examination of the flex i found that both wires had been cut, this would have happened when someone was cutting the outside sheath. Flex was replaced and no more problems.
