We have a potterton combi boiler, the low pressure light has come on, we have released the managed to get the gauge showing in the green again but now it won't light up. The low pressure light is still on and the water/heating won't go on even thouigh we're having no problems getting the pilot light on

Your boiler has a low water pressure switch ,which stops the boiler from working when the pressure goes low ,it seems that the pressure has gone so low its blocked up the switch . You need to drain the boiler and unblock the Low Water Pressure switch .you need a Heating engineer to do that ,remember British Gas can fix it for a 1 off fee ,check www.house.co.uk
