Glow worm compact 100e combi - red light on when cold?

When our Glow Worm Compact 100e combi boiler is cold (i.e. first thing in the morning), the red warning lamp lights up when you turn the heating or hot water on. You then have to push the Ignite button around 12 - 15 times and eventually the boiler fires up. Once the boiler has warmed up, it is OK. We have had a Corgi gas engineer replace the Printed Circuit Board and the air pressure switch but it has not made any difference. He has now said he doesn't want anymore to do with it, after me giving him £300 for the above work! Please help before I put a sledge hammer through the damn thing!!

I have exactly the same problem. We have spent £500 and new PCB new Pump & Valve and still we have the same problems as Mark described. Did any of you guys get it sorted

I have the same problem. The pin comes out too slow (more than 10 seconds) so that the red light is on to lockout the boiler. But I don't know how to replace the rubber diaphragm inside diverter valve?
Frank Millington, Mark, Do you sort out the problem by DIY?
Thanks,

I can only add a comment about this same Glow worm boiler model (Compact 100e) which we inherited as we moved into this house last April 2007. It is only 7 yrs old and works well since having a split rubber diaphagm replaced on the (I think) Diverter valve. But there seems to be no means of adjusting the water output temperature. It is just too hot for comfort yet try as I might to find the info in the 44pp Instruction book for this seemingly basic adjustment I've found nothing on the subject! Sorry not to help with your cold starting problem.
