Hotpoint Aquarius WD440 tripping electrics?

We have had our WD440 washer dryer for a little over a year. We put a wash on and came back to the house later in the day to find the ground floor ring main had tripped out. Eventually tracked it down to the spur supplying the washing machine. Every time we switch this spur on the 'wash' light and the on light switch on for a second or so before the electrics trip out again. I have seen a comment about a faulty door lock from someone else. Is this likely? Can I replace this fairly easily without resorting to Hotpoints £90 charge?

ours has just started tripping, same machine, 2yr old- been told that there is a problem in the water causes a circuit board to go and that it is best sorted by Hotpoint but it will go again- dont know if this is correct though- any other suggestions please

hi theres one way to check ,if the machine is on but not set to a program the door lock is not activated so try putting tje ring main back on then, these sort of washer problems nearly always turn out to be element faults but it could be the door lock
