My MP3 won't charge? I think it's jammed?

I was having a bad day, and i dropped my "RCA Lyra MP3 player" on my dresser, with the tiniest bit of force. A few hours later, the battery dies just like every other day. So i went to charge it. I gave it to my mom's boyfriend "who is a genius", and he hooks it up to the USB cord which is connected to the computer. He puts it in, and then it made that noise when you disconnect something from the computer. And it said, and i quote "it is now safe to disconnect". And i don't think it's supposed to do that. Then he said that it was jammed. WHAT DO I DO!!!!!

Charge it from mains charger. USB only supplies low voltage. Find teh reset hole - should be a small hole on it - push a pin or something in and it will reset the player to original settings. Then try
