Worcester 24i RSF combi - reset button ??

I want to push the reset button as everything seems to be fine but there is no pilot light and it won't ignite. However there are 2 knobs on top of the boiler and neither looks like a reset button or presses down. One has a red cap, and then a white protrusion underneath which does not depress. The other is screwed in place and can be moved if this screw is loosened, but not depressed like a button. Fiddling with with either does nothing to help ignition.

I must be missing something really obvious ??

The fan ran OK the pressure switch was OK ( (sometimes the pipes get full of condensate) changed the electrodes, last thing I checked was the reset button, hey presto we are back in business. It is the very small dark red button top left on top of the boiler, very easy to press, the other looks like a vent cap with a cover on it.Worked for me thanks every body.

I can not find the reset button anyone know

Jess,
If there is no reset button on the top left of the boiler, the fan and pump are not firing up and the power on/off routine does not ignite the boiler, then I can only assume that your circuit board has died as it is only your red power light that is visible on nthe control panel. No other lights or noises is circuit trouble.

I am having this problem. It is definitely not a button as i cannot press it and cannot see how it would pop up. It looks like the thread of a bolt. Please can someone tell me what to do?

Jess, October 2015
The ignition reset button is the front one of the two on the top left side of the boiler not the one with the red plastic cap which is the test point for flue gas.
It has a small plastic button in the centre which will press down if it has "tripped out" and assuming all else is ok then the ignition will refire the boiler !
I found this solution on these posts ! brilliant thanks you guys,

The old power-off-and-on-trick is not to be underestimated. I thought it only worked for computers but gave it a go after reading this page and to my surprise it got my boiler back on just now.

how do i light the poilet light

craig, January 2013
the reset button is an oval shaped button thats flashes red, similar to a cars hazard lights. press and hold this in for 5 seconds and then release the button. it should re ignite your boiler. hope this helps

Tnhis page was really usefull as i was having troubles too.. after just one comment from Beau saying

'' the button is on the top front right hand side and it is red in colour. if it does not press in like a button then it does not need resetting.

Thanks guys!!

In my experience it is the pressure inside the exhaust chamber that stops ignition because the fan is failing to provide its proper output. Sensors decide not to play as a result. Not reset issue at all.

The front red button totally works. I just had the same problem - the water pressure had gone right down and I couldn't get the boiler to start up again. Thanks for the help!

Gents.

I have had the same problem - water circulation pump started but burner failed to ignite. After investogation
I have found a fan is not spinning. As a short term remedy - remove 3 metal clpis holding the fan and shake fan assembly [BEWARE: 1. Disconnect power supply; 2. motor is HOT!!!]. attached clips again and after start fan is able to spin.

Fan must run and it is confirmed by flow sensor [the white element at bottom right of the boiler with 2 hoses coming from the top] before burner is ignited.

Manual for the boiler can be found at

I think that you are missing something obvious, that being: turn it on and off, I think that if you run out of gas then the boiler cuts power, so you need the gas back and them turn it on and off, Romeo done.

The front one of the 2 "buttons" on top is the reset button. Mine looks like it is missing something like a screw cap maybe off the top of it, but the red crosshead bit of plastic that protrudes in the centre of it definitely restarted the boiler when I pressed it. I hope this helps anyone who's getting cold right now!

my boiler is making noise as usual, just no hot water or heating! the red light is on but thats it. any suggestions as to what to do?

johnnie, October 2010
Im telling you now that the 'button' on the top is NOT a button I have tried everything but hammering it. I have the same problem as the origional post but havnt got a clue what to do.

JLW., September 2010
So no one has actually said what the restart button is??? I have the same problem and want to restart it but don't know how - there is no button! Can anyone tell me what I need to press in laymans terms? The 2 things on the top do not press - one is a bolt and one is a plastic red cap...

I have the same problem. Heating stopped working yesterday and I have no hot water. The manual refers to a reset button at the top of the boiler. All I can locate are two screw-like contraptions. How do I get the pilot to ignite? This is a strange boiler because most would have a visible button to press. Please help if you can before I have to resort to an engineer which I can ill-afford

Reset button on top of boiler; what a swizz!! Why aren't these things made easier for consumers...my landlord shuts at 5p.m...coh! Don't answer, this is merely expression.

P.S. I wouldn't have sussed it without these answers on this site. Thank you :-/

worcester 28 le rsf combi Removed a radiator from system but cannot get pressure back up. How do you re-pressurise the system ? can't see which valves to use thanks

Useless, February 2009
the button at the top is an overheat button if it doesnt fire up when demand is called for there could be a number of problems first of all try switching the power off to the boiler wait a few seconds and try again it could be a faulty mechanical timer fitted on the front at the right hand side

Mac, January 2009
having the same problem ..the red button at the top doesnt appear to be a button and press..but no pilot light...HELPPPP need a shower!

Bren, August 2008
the button is on the top front right hand side and it is red in colour. if it does not press in like a button then it does not need resetting.

Beau, October 2007
Thank-you sir. That was helpful especially the bit about no pilot :-)

Well anyway the boiler is not firing up. I am now pretty sure the reset button is not the issue. The water pressure is OK and pump and fan seem to be working as normal. But the gas is not lighting up when required i.e. no spark.

So what might be the issue and is there something I can try without calling an engineer ? (have raised this as a new question...)

Gabe, March 2007
the button to the back is the flue gas test point. the button on the front is the reset. and this boiler don't have a pilot it is electronic ignition sparks on demand.
