When cold, TV goes from on to standby mode and I have to turn it off and on a few times to get it back on, then it may repeat fault. When warm all is okay.
I was told the power pack inside soldering got loose when I had an electrical surge. I'm going to buy a soldering gun and find the power pack. Does anyone know where it is on the big model tv. Probably the old one.

£70 to repair a dry joint?? Sounds like a guy I know. Unfortunately every trade/business has them.
Dry joints on the LT Regs is about the most common cause

this is because the sensor is lose and there for not connecting properly

Hi my Hitachi tv also does the same. Appears to be a common fault of this make. My tv is only 4 years old! I got a repair guy to give me an estimate to repair it for GBP 70 cash, next day repair. He told me that the regulators should last for years but reckoned a probable cause for the fault was that we left the tv on standby too much. I don't know for sure but... will see how the repair goes!

I have the same fault. It turns its self to stand by, normally at the best part of a film or a really hard non-pauseable part of a game! A quick hit when you just turn it back on does the trick!! lol. How can i fix this? With out too much expence (ie no repair man). i can solder but would not know where to start looking for the dry joint.

What model?
Maybe a dry soldered joint. I've had a few of the C24W41## & C28W41## UK widescreen models fail with similar symptoms, in each case due to dry joints to low voltage regulators.
