kenmore washer wont spin 80 series model#110.23812100?

my kenmore 80 series washer wont spin it goes throw the whole cycle but when I check it the clothes are wet and the spin cycle did'nt work I can make it spin by trun the basket and then trun the washer back on and some times that works but its taking me a long time to wash one load I have unpluged ever thing and put the washer on its front and look under and there is oil all over the motor and pump. The pump was just changed 3 months ago. Do you have any idea what this might be? And if I can do this myself?

its very likley the timer. Run on Permanent Press to see if it works fine and if so, its definitely the timer.

Your transmission is going out and when it runs out of oil it will ruin and have to be replaced. We had ours replaced and it still leaks oil and it is going out again. This model sucks and I won't by another Kenmore.

I have the same problem with mine. Clothes are still soaking wet at end of spin cycle. Repairman said needs basket drive, but it's not cost effective to repair. Will need to buy new wahser. Must be common problem with this model.

I had the same problem...lifted the control panel off and checked the timer connections...whatever I wiggled made the washer work again. I am guessing at least my problem is the timer. Since it does fill with water, etc. My daughter had overloaded the washer when it quit...so it could have also been a strain on something (maybe even jammed the shaft). It didn't start working again though until I pulled the panel off. It was making a humming noise. which quit for now, and I have ran 2 loads with no problems...hoping it lasts until I can get a timer.

Im experiencing the same thing on same model, I think its the drive clutch sticking, I dunno

I replaced the lid switch and that did not fix the problem. Time for a new washer.

Try the lid switch.
