Potterton Suprima 30 Boiler problem?

Recently moved into a house that has a Potterton Suprima 30 boiler, house is about 10 years old.
When i fire the central heating system up the boiler will ignite and start to heat the radiators but sometimes it will then stop firing up and the Red LED will flash and the Green LED will be off (i understand this means it is Locked Out from the manual). I then have press the reset button for the sysytem to fire up again, also when this happens the heating pump will still be active. Is this a fixable problem or is it a case for calling an engineer?

I had the same problem. Oftencutting out more than 3-4 times a day (and annoyingly at night when the pump was running ALL night!).

After checking various forums, I came across some good advice.

Apparently the solder quality of the PCB boards is sub-standard. Remove the PCB and check the soldered joints, mainly on the joints where the wires connect into the board.

I found many 'cracked' joints. I resoldered and have been problem free for two years!

Call 0800 328 2747 and state that you have a lock out problem with one of their Suprima range. Mention that you have followed the Watchdog investigation into this. They should be able to help for *free* (I believe).

new pcb required for you. cost around 160 pound. this has recently been on watchdog and is a fault with the board, poterton know about it but wont change it cheaply. It will need to be changed by an engineer as it involves opening the combustion cover.
