My 57h81 widescreen isn't working?
I came home from work to find that my T.V wasn't working right. The power light was flashing on and off and there was nothing but darkness. I have owned this model(57H81c) for 1 1/2 years and loved it to death. I unplugged the T.V. and waited about thirty seconds and plugged it back in. The sound came on but the sceen was a blue tinge and then it zapped back to complete darkness with no sound again with the flashing power light. I tried this maybe two more times with the same result until I concluded that it was time to call Toshiba. The support person told me that I needed to buy a new lamp since it's a rear projection T.V. I called the local repair dealed for Toshiba the next day and explained that I wanted to find out how much the lamp was and he could not find a lamp for this T.V. because they don't have lamps???? He said he needed to come to my house to service this model. My question would be...What's wrong with my T.V.? Is there bulbs/lamps what ever??? I hope that it's the picture tube because it's covered by a 2 year warranty since I was not spending an additional $500.00 for a 4 year extended warranty(I paid $1800.) I did not buy a toaster that should have a short lifespan..I paid over $2000.00 with delivery and taxes and there should be some sort of manufacturer faith that they are selling me a product that I would replace with the same Toshiba product in the future(10 years or more) Perhaps I'm naive. Is there anyone who has had or dealing with this same problem?
