What would cause a tv to shut off?

I have a 47 inch samsung television. It is a high definition, projection screen tv. What happens is I am watching tv and all of a sudden you hear a zoom and the tv shuts of but if i hit the power button on the remote control the red light on the front screen flashes, but the tv doesn't come on. now if i unplug the tv and plug it back in the tv will automatically come back on but for how long who knows, could be a week, could be a hour. My uncle is a electronic and he tells me that where I have such a big tv in such a small room, that the tv gets overheated and shuts off, he suggests that i put a fan next to the back of it or have additional fans put inside of the tv if there is room. I just wanted to check with someone else and see what there opinion is on this problem and can this problem get more serious. I just want to add my email www.joepesci@hotmail.com, so that if anyone answers this question of mine I would very much appreciate it if they could email me the solution to my madness. This tv is only 13 months old as well. Thank you very much for reading my very long question, and I look forward to hearing from whoever is so kind to respond to me, thank you.

not sure but make sure that you do not have a sleep time set on the set some tvs will automatically shut off after a set amount of time rule that out before overheating problem
