How can I box in cabling, pipework etc?

I have some very untidy cabling in the corner of a room. I want to box it in with white melamine board to look neater. I am having trouble designing a suitable wooden framework to support the boards. What sort of joints should I use? Butt joint seems too weak but mortise and tenon seems a bit too elaborate and couldn't do it anyway!

just use butt joints, as used in plasterboarding stud walls. when you put both sides up and screw together it will get its strength
