My portable Polaroid DVD player PDV-0801A says that it's loading, but the disk just spins and never plays.

i have a model pdv0821t .it says no disc .i found an open in the ribbon wire leading to yhe laser .polaroid stocks no parts .i noticed that on other makes this ribbon wire is the same. cannot get this ribbon wire .any ideas

I've had it since Dec 2005. It does the same to all DVD's and will not play CD's. I have tried to clean the lens with compressed air only--is there any other way to clean it? It also seems to make a noise when it spins that it never used to make. When we open the DVD door and activate the laser, it turns on and the head slides back and forth. Thanks!

How long have you had it? Does it do the same to all discs, dvd and cd's? Have you tried to clean the lens?
