Why is there water left in resevoir in botton of LG washing machine?

I have an LG front load washing machine WM1832CW. It never seems to drain entirely, leaving about 10oz of water in the bottom resevoir. If I do not manually drain it from the front drain plug, the machine begins to smell musty. Any suggestions?

is the grey outlet pipe going under the sink if so water could flow into the washer when sink is been emtyed check in drum for food waste or dirty water
