Is this right?

I moved into a new build 15 months ago. I was told by my builder (Bodgit and Scarper) that the boiler was under warranty for two years (Ravenheat Little Star). It broke down over the weekend, no hot water and no CH. It seems there is no pilot light at all. I rang Ravenheat and they said that ths paerticular model is only guarenteed for 12 months!!!!.....so mine ran out three months ago. I have just had to call out a plumbing firm (who incidentally have never heard of the Little Star!) and have just been charged £300 for parts and labour costs!!!!!..............surely Ravenheat can guarentee boilers for longer than 12 months in this day and age. Also, does anyone have any suggestions as to how I might take this forward. i.e either a samll claims court for the builder's incompetence or Ravenheat's idiosy in only giving a boiler (and their good name) a 12 month life span!!!!!!

Most manufacturer's only give a 12 month warranty particularly if they are at the budget end of the market. Baxi , worcseter-bosch ,vaillant further up the food chain tend to give better, but you usually end up paying through extended warranty schemes as with most major purchases. Like hi-tech says, its in the paperwork and your builder obviously lied to you.

your boiler is a band D only band A has a 3 yr warranty.
A band is the most economical and efficient boiler yours is D which is the least. in other terms rubbish. if you want a decent boiler you want a worcester or a valliant. which are about £700. yours is worth about £450.
as for your builder telling you, surely you have the paperwork on the boiler so why didn't you read it with regards to the warranty ?
as regards to it breaking down, thats just sods law it happens alot in the real world when the guarentee has just run out.

law states they have to give a min 1yr guarentee if you want extended you have to pay wether it a boiler or washing/machine etc.
so it comes down to you taking the builders word for it
dear mistake.............
