Sony DAV400 Stuck on Headphone Output?

My Sony DAV400 is stuck on the Headphone Output Sound Function. I can't seem to get it off this selection and there seems to be no master reset.

How do i get it back to play 5.1
Thank you

Hi Alan

How did you do this resoldering? Do you have a ”user guide” for it, some pictures maybe? I have the same problem and I talked to a technician and he told me that it needed resoldering. BUT, that is like $ 100… So if I can do it myself I will try that

Tanks!

Can anyone help me with is horrible problem or do i need to go out and but a new home cinema system?

this is a common problem. Dry solder joints on the printed circuit board which carries the speaker and headphone connectors. I managed to fix mine by resoldering.

We have this problem too - our solution which isn't perfect is to stick some headphones in the socket and after a few minutes take them out and the sound usually comes out of the speakers again. Doesn't always work on the first attempt and there's always the possibility of it going off again. Last weekend I was watching Casino Royale and it let me watch the first 10 minutes before going 'off' and then it came back on after about 3 minutes being plugged in and then off again a couple of minutes later. A couple of minutes of being plugged in sorted it again and it was fine for the rest of the film. What I haven't tried yet is to see whether it works with the machine on pause or stopped (ie time to go and make a cup of tea) and then come back and try.
