my speakers do not work...i have tried everything i can think of to fix them but nothing is working. they are plugged in to the right sockets at the back and there is a green light on the front as if they are woking but no sound is coming out. any more suggestions

all i know is that it is an advent computer

You may need to reinstall the sound card driver. The sound card is the part of the pc responsible for producing the sounds and needs its own driver (program) to work.
If you have win xp you can do a system restore to a known date when the sound worked.
